It seems to me that there are some real barriers between middle management and the top of the ladder in order to keep these numbers so low.  I wonder if those barriers are real or perceived.  Is it something that we as women put up ourselves, is it someone at the top holding us back, is it a fear of losing touch with family?  It may be somewhat different for everyone, but I think we are still working to break the mold of what women have always been seen as - which is the keeper of the home.

I know that personally, I struggle with that myself and thus, create my own barrier.  I am not sure how I could effectively balance a more demanding job and my family life.

Great article.  Like Cheryl, I wonder what those numbers will look like when my daughter is a working woman.
