At Mudi SACCO we have just had our Annual General Meeting for 2013 on 26th April, 2014. Being a female General Manager for this SACCO, I am very happy to see, my fellow two women scooping two seats in the Executive BOD of four, making it 50-50. All the past years it has been men only or just one lady in the executive. Indeed, its time women we need to break the ceiling. "WE CAN". Sisters, share your experience at your Organizations/C.U/ SACCOs.

It is really encouraging that you have achieve the 50-50 representation in BOD but there is need to increase the presentation at the National level because I have noted that the numbers are declining.
October 04, 2015 May I inform you Sisters, that, at TAGUM COOPERATIVE, in Davao del Norte, Philippines, only one male BOD Member sits at the Board. We don't know why women here are more interested to serve the cooperative. It used to be 3 male members. During the Annual General Assembly early this year 2015, there were 3 male candidates but only one male who won. Isn't this a great sign of Woman Empowerment, Ladies? And the Chairperson, Norma R. Pereyras is a multi-awarded sister. We are all proud to be members of the billionaire Tagum Cooperative, with more than 116,000 members as of May, 2015, and of all great news, Tagum Cooperative has no external debt.

In the past few years we have gone from one woman on a Board of 12 to 7 women. I cherished every new woman who got elected. Alas I can contest that gender does not always make the best Director. No matter how much education or mentoring, some people don't work out, they are not cut out to be leaders. The key is to have a balanced Board with good Board Dynamics. Without that the Board will only struggle along. Invest in education for your Board it will be money well spent. Nuture your gender balance on your Board, you have the best of both worlds at your table, use that to advance the members of your SACCO :-) I share in the joy of this happy event!!
Good Luck Sister !!
